I know there's been some debate over whether Kind 1 should use Markdown. Perhaps a new kind should be introduced for short, Markdown-formatted text notes.

This would segue with the idea of moving away from Kind 1 as the "default" event kind. Markdown-formatted short notes would be suited for social media applications in ways that plain Kind 1 might not be.

I think kind1 could benefit from Markdown support. For instance, right now there is no way for authors to choose when links should preview and when they shouldn't. Most kind1s just preview everything, which sometimes is not what authors wanted.

Best idea I've heard in a long time. I can hardly think about an argument against having a default #markdown note type for Nostr. That'd single handedly put an end to the incosistent rendering issues across clients to begin with!

But why stop there? Just think how easy it'd be to implement closer integrations with #markdown based #pkm [^1] systems like #vimwiki #obsidian #logseq etc.
