Free speech exist but can be dangerous. You can be shot or fired from your job for it.

Then itโ€™s not really free speech.

๐Ÿค”

late-night content has always been friskier

since when is late night demographic the same as disney abc

for context: i have not looked up what jimmy said

It was kind of a nothing burger.

Basically MAGA is trying to take political advantage with the situation

And they are.

Tell me a side that doesn't try to take advantage from the horror

Switzerland

But there own mojo is never take any side

BTW they always take the money side

Disney owns so much mainstream media now, and theyโ€™re afraid of falling out of favor with the administration.

Exactly

Itโ€™s free speech. But everything has consequences.

Free speech isnโ€™t speech without consequences.

Free speech is speech without government intervention.

Free speech isnt freedom from consequences. You can say whatever you want and I will defend to my death your ability to say it. Doesn't mean everyone is gonna like it. Doesn't mean everyone is gonna let you say it without reacting.

Kinda lame employers cave to it, but yeah

That is the most ignorant interpretation of free speech I have ever read.

Sometimes the answer is to say nothing. Not every thought has to be shared (in a world of empowered over-sharers).

Choose your battles wisely ๐Ÿ‘Œ

His comments werenโ€™t particularly controversial; he was merely mocking the GOP. However, isnโ€™t that precisely the essence of these shows: the left mocking the right, and vice versa?

The parent company is afraid of becoming a political target and is bowing under pressure by the government. Thatโ€™s an attack on speech they donโ€™t like.

Fuck, I said I didnโ€™t want to talk about politics and here I go.

I think also the companies are a little bit fed up with late shows, cost a lot and today the backlash is way bigger than the flowers, Seth Meyers should be worried

I havenโ€™t watched late night television in forever. Itโ€™s epic normie world full of self-congratulatory celebrities. I canโ€™t stand any of it.

Yeah, I donโ€™t really think a lot of people watch these shows anymore. Other than whatever clips seep to the interwebs.

Paying as much as they pay for a 50k views on YouTube of the monologue ain't working, companies are using excuses to cut costs in my view

Interesting g take.

I too havent watched late night TV in a long time but I wouldnt put it past them to use Kirk as the reason to pull Kimmel because they wanted to get rid of him or to pull a stunt to remind people that their show still exists.

who knows.

This is a discussion about basic rights. I think that gets a pass.

Oh donโ€™t you get it, TKay? Nobody is allowed to bomb at jokes anymore. Thatโ€™s basically terrorism!

That wasnโ€™t a joke, that was deliberate misinformation to score political points. He was pulled off after local affiliates refused to air it not because of Disneyโ€™s decision.

Sounds like Kimmel got in trouble for speaking the truth. Ironic.

We'll have to watch re-runs of MASH soon for light night TV. Colbert and now Jimmy!
