I think it needs more work tbh, a lot of ppl are going to get a negative impression of nostr as things are rn.
It does need a lot of work! Did you use Nostr back in December? January? Etc. Clients are improving at breakneck speeds!
Itâs definitely getting better. Iâm a little annoyed that the devs are prioritising zap stuff when there are still huge issues, like even being able to see threads properly.
Every client is at a different stage of development. You could always offer up a bounty of sats for your favorite client to fix an issue that you're experiencing. V4V.
You shouldn't have to pay someone to fix something that the majority of users (and fellow devs themselves) find an issue on any given client.
There's wanting to get paid for your work, and then there's charging to fix something that wouldn't take you more than a few hours just because you can siphon the additional cash.
I could understand paying for a feature I specifically wanted, but you canât even see threads properly in Damus.

I love the idea of Nostr as a twitter alternative, but content discovery is so challenging⊠at least via Damus. Also, Twitter still has critical mass by a large margin of active experts in interesting subjects⊠e.g. AI, Medicine, Economics (non-crypto focused) âčïž

I think the permissionless payments is more about enabling the communication of value signals in a way that canât be stopped than the obsession with or accumulation of money. Itâs a big deal. Maybe I misunderstand what you were saying though?

How else do I tell really tell someone their work educated me, or tell a relay I value their sibling of electricity into relaying?
You could just tell them with words.

Words, which are a lower value signal because of engagement farms, bots, especially ChatGPT⊠Imagine GPT-10âŠ
And sats, which are a higher value signal because you canât fake a sat.
Also, relay operators canât pay for their electricity using my words of affirmation.
