is it really?

hace you compared knots nodes going online with core nodes going down?

yes, there is a noticable decline in Core numbers since April with a corresponding rise in Knots numbers

Knots is becoming the de-facto Bitcoin reference implementation

Sheeeeeeeeesh!

man, they got to remove the asian lady

She is out of her depth. Any experienced Open Source maintainer would listen to the community.

Didn‘t Core release V30 WITH the filter option? After having it ‚deprecated‘ previously? or was i misled?

that would be a ‚listen to the community‘ type of thing. no?

They never removed the setting. They marked it for future removal. Then someone made a pull request saying "You could probably recover a modicom of political capital with node runners, if you just didn't deprecate this feature." So they "unmarked" it for deprecation. It was just immaterial signaling, since v30 will default the data carrier limit to an absurd, arbitrary 100k.

Racism and/or sexism

You don't know the maintainer's name, yet you know they are the cause of all the world's problems 🤔

i know the name.

it is not racism you fool, because it is not her heritage that caused this.

she ridiculed the community.

Core probably lost their comfortable de-facto standard implementation status.

devastating.

holy fuck.

what a BLOW to Core.

Yes, knots is #1

source of chart: https://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/dashboard/

as of right now, more folks run Knots than any other version of bitcoin

21% is not 51%, though it does keep climbing!

Looking at Core 29 and 29.1 vs. both Knots versions might be a more accurate gauge of what people have recently chosen.

How is 20% #1?

because the most popular version of Core has fewer than 13.5% share of the node count

the most popular version of Knots has a higher share than that

Does the total amount not matter? Seems like creative accounting

it certainly matters, for statistics such as "what is the most popular *brand* of bitcoin node software" -- the winner of that category is currently Bitcoin Core, which has ~77% market share compared to Knots' ~22%

but my question is, "what is the most popular version of bitcoin node software?" and for that question, the answer is Bitcoin Knots v29, which has about 13.9% market share, compared to 13.5% for the runner-up, Core v28.1.0

Gotcha
