While I'm in NZ, #[0] dropped by. We spent today day translating some of his work into live charts so the world can keep easy tabs on #Bitcoin's progress towards being carbon negative, least of all people shaping policy where this data is critical.

This will go live soon.

Emissions are roughly the same as 3 years ago despite market cap being 3x higher and user adoption 4x higher.

In terms of CO2e intensity, the #Bitcoin network is making great strides putting out 3x less CO2e per kWh of energy use (0.09 grams per kWh presently). Daniel's best extrapolation is that is on track to go carbon negative in 4 years.

Correction:

The network presently emits 0.9 grams annually of CO2e per dollar of market cap.

This is 329g of CO2e per kWh.

Nice. Let’s plant trees too in the name of #Bitcoin! 🚀 Let’s ACTUALLY do something that will benefit the environment. #Bitcoin4Ever

Is CO2 dangerous?

CO2 levels oscilate on earth from milions of years and there is no much correlation to for example temperature, all propaganda so you are forced to eat fiat food which can only grow on depleted Bill Gates's seed plants soil. CO2 is not dengerous even if quadruple for humans. You better worry if we not stard going into next ice age like it is every several thousand years, thats gonna be a big problem ;)

I'd suggest using a true zero as bottom for all charts. It always seems to be an attempt of manipulation if 350m g is the "bottom"...

Would carbon based life forms benefit from an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere?

"Earth's soil is releasing roughly nine times more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere than all human activities combined."

Do I believe BTC as drug money the reason it should not exist? No.

How about a currency for cybercrime, or to evade capital controls on enemies of the state?

How about ESG? No not at all. But it’s the current attack vector.

These are all false narratives aimed at Bitcoin, this work is about putting the record straight in order to accelerate its adoption.

And all CO2 in the atmosphere is but a minuscule fraction of all other GHG.

More water evaporates every day from the oceans than the volume of all oil reserves in the world

#GreenhouseGases

And of all the CO2 generated by humans, the portion directly resulting from burning fossil fuels isn’t that big.

Anyone who ever drove through the smoke of a forest fire understands how stupid is the idea of stopping climate change by driving an electric car or giving up beef.

I’m not sure how accurate, but I saw estimates that 1/2 of forest fires are accidentally man-made.

A tiny effort in managing those would reduce more CO2 than all the world deciding to be poor and starve.

Yet all we hear about is that we should give up everything to “save the planet”.

Those story about Carbon emissions its just ideologica and we shouldnt care... imo

Good news!!! I'd really like to see a comparison of other industries to see how they compare to (0.09 grams per kWh)
