ainβt no way we got the smartest people ever building this n there isnβt a solution that doesnβt stand on any of these extremes
you can have clients that only support a singular nsec with multiple npubs made upon it i suppose, so the network of alt accounts would be visible and stuck to that one nsec
but that just makes having that one nsec even more risky, if you are running multiple accounts
maybe then you could fork away from that singular nsec, but it would still leave a mark?

I like to see them interact for a while too across multiple notes. A bit of Proof of Work. A website, a genuine interest in something, engagement etc. Itβs tricky though.
While that may be a decent litmus, its nowhere near foolproof and may filter out the very people who might otherwise have the most passion and staying power on nostr.
For example several members of my meetup group jumped on nostr today. They showed up with profile pics and lnaddresses cause I had been talking their ears off abt nostr for the past year. They simply came prepared and are very passionate. Immediately assuming they're illigitimate cause they came prepared to jump into the community seems backwards to me.

Why do I wish to not be skeptical ? bc I remember a time where we used a site or service that would link your twitter to your npub n give your npub a sort of legitimacy amongst other clones (if youβre a public figure) n for me it was an easy way to follow people that I knew on the platform where I was coming from, Iβm curious if something like this will be built for people coming from other platforms

My approach is to be friendly and welcome anyone, but I don't zap them unless I can trust who they are and/or they post something I enjoy enough to zap. I also don't repost new accounts unless I know they're trustworthy, because reposting them feels like me vouching for them.
Nostr hospitalityβs need to be standardized through community decisions like these :-)

Newcomers are just as skeptical about learning of NOSTR (new tech and very foreign to me still) but curious enough to try it. It is similar to MeWe with no ads but probably much different. I'm here to learn, not to troll and cause mischief.
Bootstrap web of trust with organic follows originating from pre existing relationships outside nostr. It doesn't work for most possible newcomers, but if we focus on onboarding people we already know we can grow the network with trust
I like that, one of the reasons why I followed so many people on my first day was because of some tool that allowed us to link our npub to our twitters and I followed a bunch of the people i was already following on twitter, them linking the accounts gave their npubs legitimacy amongst all the other clones of their npubs that were around
Nostrgram was always ahead of its time, one of its βtimelineβ feed options was to show posts from the follows of those you follow. Instantly widened the scope of quality content.

If they got a lightning address from the start coming from Tik Too I'd be skeptical very skeptical as well. People do like to spin up fake accounts to harvest zaps sadly.
I chaulk it up to a marketing expense, not everyone stopping by your "booth" is coming back. Nobody new in #introductions last night had a lightning address, so it mostly looked like a real opportunity to educate.
New, and looking to learn. Went down multiple rabbit holes last few days, trying to build a bridge from a Coinbase acct had created Dec β21 to move some Bitcoin (inexpensively hopefully) to a Munn or Breez LN wallet (is it a wallet?). A few things super easy, though many verification heavy. Still not successful so far. Struggling on the set up. Still so many questions.
