Its a cornelian cherry its not really a cherry at all it's a dogwood, cornus mas this one is called jolico. I can send you some seeds or try and/or graft it. Its astringent but sweet I reckon you could make something really good with it
Wow I never knew there was an edible dogwood, got itched cutting one back and have avoided them ever since! Sweet and tart sounds perfect for a jelly. It strikes me as an easy plant to take cuttings from, they would love some in the harvest hedgerows at the farm 🤝
Yeah a would be good as a jelly. I will layer it then and hopefully it will take.
Looking this up it showed me barberry underneath and I thought hang in a minutes that looks a lot like mahonia 😅
😆 to be fair the berberis darwini can look a bit similar... if you only look at the fruit 😁. Have you ever made anything with those two?
Have you got the wild seabuckthorn? Or is it larger like this cultivated one?
Probably cultivated as they have two different types, yellow and orange
Actually thinking about it if it's like the other dogwoods it should layer easily. I will dig a stem in the ground and hopefully it will root
