I almost missed the part where you @'d someone. I went both of those plants!

You should be able to find them in the US. They are good if you like astringent and sour flavours these are the cultivated ones so they are a bit more palatable. I really like both once they are ripe.

Cornelian cherry (Jolico) and seaberry (Mary) if you want to hunt them down

Seaberry and cornus are not easily found locally sadly!

I could get them shipped in from elsewhere but ive had less than ideal results doing that. Our heat here is pretty brutal

Goji and sea buckthorn

The latter is correct. The leaves will help identify the other.

Is the first a miracle berry?

No idea on the second one

Thats a bit too sub tropical for outdoors here. Cornelian cherry (Jolico) and seaberry (Mary).

Of course.

It's nice to see stuff from other regions.

Yeah, likewise with looking at your plants. Was thinking about growing a miracle berry at some point but I decided to focus on other things in the garden instead of growing hard to maintain plants.

Yup - I've given up on potatoes & onions.

Giuggiole in italian 😂

Seabuckthorn we have on the farm and goes really nice in a seville marmalade 🫶 the other one im not sure, the leaves look like cherry

Its a cornelian cherry its not really a cherry at all it's a dogwood, cornus mas this one is called jolico. I can send you some seeds or try and/or graft it. Its astringent but sweet I reckon you could make something really good with it

Wow I never knew there was an edible dogwood, got itched cutting one back and have avoided them ever since! Sweet and tart sounds perfect for a jelly. It strikes me as an easy plant to take cuttings from, they would love some in the harvest hedgerows at the farm 🤝

Yeah a would be good as a jelly. I will layer it then and hopefully it will take.

Looking this up it showed me barberry underneath and I thought hang in a minutes that looks a lot like mahonia 😅

😆 to be fair the berberis darwini can look a bit similar... if you only look at the fruit 😁. Have you ever made anything with those two?

You mean it's not barberry?!

Not yet managed to find a bush that had enough fruit to be worthwhile

Yeah that's an issue, you aren't likely to find them in the wild.

Have you got the wild seabuckthorn? Or is it larger like this cultivated one?

Probably cultivated as they have two different types, yellow and orange

Actually thinking about it if it's like the other dogwoods it should layer easily. I will dig a stem in the ground and hopefully it will root

jujube?
