#asknostr 500 sats for a creative painting and decorating tip - ie tips that improve the quality of work, or speed up the process, or save money on materials.

If it makes sense to me, it's a good 'un!

There is no other painting and decorating resource on Nostr, as far as I can tell, so you have an open run with your best tips!

If its a tip you have seen from a painter on Youtube or wherever, that's fine, just reference them and I'll try reach out to them and get them to take a look over here.

See how it goes, I have a few sats put aside for the hashtag.

This was a lifesaver for me: add a drop of dish soap to your water when cutting in — smoother lines, fewer brush marks. Bonus: it makes cleaning up way easier.

Thanks. I'll give you that one, with a BIG caveat :) Dish soap does reduce surface tension of water-based paints, which improves flow. But... Next time, please use a properly formulated and compatible #Paint conditoner such as Floetrol.

To avoid cissing ( pinholing) pro painters in UK started adding Dish soap to water- based acrylate enamels from Tikkurila, arguably the most technically advanced Paint company in the business.

You can imagine with their knowledge of chemistry why their tech department went ballistic hearing that hairy-assed painters thought they knew better and were dropping unmeasured amounts of Fairy Liquid into their multi billion dollar Paint. 😂

If you have nothing else, Dish soap is a get out of jail tip. But Who knows how It degrades the finish. Floetrol on the other hand improves the Paint formulation especially of cheaper látex/vinyl emulsion paints.

Good to know

Put the tray in a big plastic bag, and then pour the paint in that. Throw out he plastic bag, and the tray stays clean.

With tin cans, decant the paint into smaller plastic containers (eg 2kg yoghurt container with a plastic lid) Fill them up only half way, and then you can swirl the paint before use and that saves having to use a paint stirrer, messing about with the can lid which gets worse and worse as paint accumulates in the lip of the can.

When I use a caulking gun, I cut the legs off old cotton tights, wet it, and slide it over one arm and then use that to smooth out the silicone. You can roll it as you go to get a clean bit each time you caulk.

These are girlie tips which focus on convenience as well as staying as clean as possible.

I am the best painter I know.....🤣 #housepainteronNostr-tips
