9-10 i guess should be good or else it would just get clustered

Couple "aggregators" and a few big ones on mobile. On desktop lot more. But saving mobile relays overwrites desktop. So maybe clients can use different places for mobile and desktop relay settings.
One thing to keep in mind. The more relays you are connected to the more data you will be consuming. I use nostr.wine + one more paid relay + my own private relay and the public relay I operate. 5-10 relays is more than enough for now.
This relay thing is poorly thought out IMHO ... noobs will never understand it
