For communication CB radios would work, hand held and a stronger car/base station type with large aerial. They are cheap enough and you can get longer range with repeater stations. A marine VHF radio, although illegal for land use normally, would also be useful. You could also set up a local mesh network if the equipment still worked.
These next things people should have anyway for everyday emergencies, fires, floods, loss of employment:
Cash to cover 3 months of current costs, you'd need this physically at home in or in a deposit box.
3-6 months of food, things you eat now, that can be stored. Can include frozen foods if you cover 'fuel' below.
100-200 litres of fuel for your car, and a generator if you have one and you should. With a 800-1000w inverter you can run your fridge from your car if the power goes out.
I also use a solar panel, battery bank and inverter that I can run fridges and other things off, this is a longer term option than fuel as it can be recharged every day.
Multiple sources of stored water. A water tank, lots of #Austriches already have these. Boxed or bottled water, you can fill empty 2l bottles from the tap and store them. Don't rely on the tap working. Also a way to filter water from a dam or creek etc.
Grow your own food, tools, medical equipment, a bucket type camping toilet or a deep hole.
Sounds like you’re ready for anything!
Cash I definitely see as more useful than gold/silver, goldbugs have this weird idea that people are just going to revert back to precious metals which seems incredibly unlikely to me. I’ll make a separate post in a bit showing why.
Couldn’t zap this note btw!
Yeah I'm still using WoS and I think that's impacting zaps, but Au zaps should still work.
I'm what some would call a 'prepper', always have been. The gold/silver thing I think has had its day, how many people today would know how to tell if it's real? Or would trust it? I don't think many at all. Barter, tools, skills, experience, that's all useful in an emergency situation. People would accept tobacco, alcohol, medicines over gold or silver.
