Part of this depends on what client you are using.
Some clients (apps, or a web app on a browsers) have a pipeline to servers that allow relays to relay notes to other clients when the note is read/seen/rendered.
Other clients have default services that perform the same hosting function.
Some of these services utilize various third party utilities to scan the media for CSAM (primarily). The two utilities that I know of are cloudflare's "AI" tool and Microsoft's PhotoDNA.
Now I don't know about you... But I'm very uncool with cloudflare or MS scanning EVERYTHING that I upload. Granted, I use a VPN (and now TOR), but... No thanks.
I'm with you. 100%. I'm using Amethyst...should I be? 😬
Yup I am #Amethyst and love it 💕
I like it too, I'm just wondering if it's one that's shares data like Beave is speaking about 🤷♀️
That's a good question for nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcscpyug
I was going to be snarky last night when you wrote this since i knew there was absolutely no way youd get a response.
I think it goes without saying at this point though.
Nostr.build is the default host for media. They use both cloudflare and MS.
You determine if that's an issue.
I'm just trying to raise people's awareness of a pretty gaping hole in informed consent.
I'm with you there. I'm looking forward to the day my company can offer sovereign personal content hosting for every Internet user (optionally on your own hardware if you want. Or not). We need some time, but that's one of our core goals.
I look forward to this.
