I guess the blue check brigade and gold check businesses weren't generating enough revenue for Elon so he wants to pay wall everyone and add even more microtransactions.

For most X/Twitter users they get no reach, they are just there to shout into the void and maybe get a ratio'd comment on an influencer/big account once in a while.

So what would the incentive be for them to pay to do that? To pay to see content that is posted on other social media apps for free?

If this goes through get ready for a new wave of #nostr adoption.

There’s no way Xitter becomes paywalled, the place would die overnight and be shutdown entirely within a year if that was the level of friction to use it.

My guess is he might do something like that rate limiting nonsense he tried to try and push people to opt for blue checks or get people to buy some amount of credits they can burn, either way I don't see people going for it, its already becoming a ghost town if you got rid of the bots, now if the people who don't want to pay go too, then its just businesses and influencers left lol

He clearly wants the blue checks because of his financial app concept, he needs people KYCed for that moreso than he needs people to pay for access.

I don’t see any of those routes being successful though. He doesn’t have the patience to execute incrementally over ~3 years, he’s used to businesses where he pushes employees and they bend but he’s pushing his customers and hasn’t groked that they’re not gonna bend the same.

I'd love to find the same content as I do find on twitter on other apps but I can't. I mean : art, bitcoin, economy, politics. Love nostr but it's still a niche. Which platforms you were thinking about?
