I have been listening to the Catechism in a Year podcast. i appreciate how smart people through time collaborated on this body of work.

I suppose other affiliations may have less history/ easier ways to go off the rails.

for example, stances on Israel/Palestine conflict or marriage vary between other churches whereas this ancient body of work isn't going to be changed as easily to accomodate the flavor of the day.

it's a longer time chain, maybe?

i also appreciate the decentralization aspect of all the other flavors of churches.

Lindy, yeah. The Orthodox are also lindy, so they're both in trend.

Lindy is the name of the tendency of a system to persist longer the longer it has persisted. new things often don't stick. things that have lasted longer tend to stick longer still. it is partly about economics (time learning) and partly about efficiency (new things are often not much better than old things).

I like to think of Catholics as the centralized version of Orthodox haha
