its organically happening, follows are not working for many of us.

for one, there are technical limitations on how big a follow list can be (this right here actually killed follows)

the other reason in the future i could see you wanting to not advertise to the world "who you follow".. keeping this data more in your control..

I am not into nostr development but did anyone consider encrypted following lists? What is the problem with it? It should perfectly solve privacy concern, but I consider it is not applicable for public stuff really - anyone still can see to whom you are engaging (replying / zapping / boosting etc).
