Small groups like meetups are one of the best ways to overcome them though

But if there are no people on the platform then you can't create a local meetup. So the platform is useless as a way to find like minded people in your area. If I have to advertise locally to set up a group, I'm just going to get people to download keet or telegram. I don't need meetup or flockstr outside of the initial effort to find people with specific interests. It's only useful if there are already lots of people there & no, I don't see how small groups help with the problem at all.

To some extent, that's definitely true of Facebook/Reddit, but my experience with Meetup has always been trying to join a group and they tell me "we use meetup".

Well yeah, meetup has a network effect working in its favor (its name is the thing people are trying to do), but it's also expensive & they censor the creation of certain groups. What does that have to do with overcoming flockstr's network effect problems?

People who want to use flockstr can much more easily get a small group of people onboard with their group, even if it's hosted on some weird obscure site, whereas Twitter and Facebook's network effects are much harder.

Wen display calendar events when mentioned in a kind one note?

oh shit wut 🤯? flockstr should add a share button that lets you draft a kind one note and automatically inserts the naddr for the event.

Heck yeah

wen rsvp? 😂

On the short list!
