We just traveled a week across the Netherlands: Consistently drove on impeccable roads, traffic that just flows, lots of PV on the roofs, high e-car density, everything clean, the people all relaxed and friendly, many parking spaces and farm stores with payment on a trust basis - that is such a contrast to Germany and blatant, how much more advanced they seem in the neighboring country.

Back home, everyone thinks that Germany is the crown of creation – but abroad, people got lots of reasons to shake their heads about us germans.

Thanks dear dutch people, it was an exciting trip!

„Germany is der Ruhrpott of Europe“

The differences between the Netherlands and Germany (or most other European countries, for that matter) are stark. The Dutch state has served its population relatively well until. Until now

I don‘t know much about the political situation, but was impressed by how „the basics“ seem to be in a very good shape – especially when compared to the ongoing constant decline over here.

That's quite the misrepresentation you wrote there. What a hell of a way to compare.

Can you elaborate?

In the Netherlands there's an excess of solar generated electricity that is destabilizing the net because of its intermittancy. The tax measures and subsidies for ownership of an ev are exuberant and unsustainable in the Netherlands. Those beautiful roads are too expensive for citizens to pay for, even with a low square km per citizen ratio. Both countries, and many more worldwide, are in a state of social unrest because of political policy mismanagement and monetary policy causing inflation. It's not going well for Dutch people. I understand you were visiting, but if you want to say something meaningful, your superficial comparison is incorrect and doesn't do justice to what the status quo is in either countries.

Subsidized electric cars though, not sure if the comparison is fair.

The same realization you get when traveling to Poland, which Germans historically have looked down on quite a bit. German people has not even started to realized how much they impoverished. Irrational confidence galore. The reality check will come pretty hard

Don't forget to mention Internet Quality. I now have a prepaid cell provider (everything unlimited, not speed reduced) for 25€/month and reception at every anchorage and at almost any other place in the Caribbean, even at sea between the islands. No problem to run a node with it at all...
