Measure Bitcoin against gold to determine value. Measure Bitcoin against local currency (such as USD) to determine goods & services purchases.

Most goods and services cannot be bought in Bitcoin in most places.

Just because despite appreciation as store of value everybody wants to spend and accepts USD

So that I am not charged 0.5 btc for a book or something like that.
