Traffic by relay is quite concentrated. They can’t stop Nostr the idea, but they can really hurt it. If they go after just 3 of the top relays that’s it for most users. It would be interesting to see Nostr battletested
For sure there’s efforts involved but treating yourself like a tyrant it’s not sustainable. You might well “succeed” and turn yourself into a wreck in the way. Just have a balance of intelligent hard work and times to decompress and relax.

I have changed my mind many times. But i do think that Bitcoin should focus on being the best money we have, innovation and other uses cases should be dealt with shitcoins. We can’t incentivize people to adopt Bitcoin and then increase the risks of rugpulling them just for the sake of a political idea while breaking BTC as good money and good store of value.
It is FOSS so it is indeed hierarchical and centralized within its decentralization. You submit code and if there is a consensus within the hierarchy then you are a contributor.
So yes, if you build on top of someone else’s propery you will indeed have no say
