As kids get older, the effort expended by parents shifts from physical to emotional.
When they’re little, you lose sleep because they wake.
As they grow you increasingly lose sleep because you worry about them.

This is very accurate. I'm still in the early phase. Happy to hold on to this phase for as long as possible to be honest.
so true 🫂
I remember as a kid I was super annoyed when my mom said she was worried about me. I felt perfectly confident in doing what I was doing and overbearing adults were not helping.
Just something to keep in mind they the worries are overblown.
Worries are always overblown, nearly by definition.
I'm at the end where mostly I spend time regretting not having spent more time with them when they were younger. I feel like a terminal patient who knows his days are numbered & he can't even enjoy them as they are full of loss that hasn't even completely happened yet.
