🚨 BREAKING PLEASE SHARE 🚨

I got an order for some soap the other day to Canada. I paid for the shipping, and now customer is being charged $40 CAD upon delivery for "Import fees".

I was unaware of this, and don't know if this is something new because of the Trump tariffs.

I only shipped him 4 bars of soap. This is insane. Canada is fucked.

I will still ship to Canada, if you just really want to, but wouldn't blame you one bit if you do not.

I JUST TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS AWARE SO YOU DON'T GET HIT WITH THIS UNAWARE WHEN ORDERING SOMETHING FROM USA.

PLEASE SHARE SO EVERYONE IS AWARE. 🙏

Pretty sure it's been this way for a while.

It's part of the reason I believe for the tariffs.

IDK 🤷 Just pisses me off. That's insane.

Feels you, happened to me with expensive sunglasses - rekt couldn't afford the fees they sent it back 😤

🤬🤬🤬

It’s been that way for years.

Both he and I were taken back. Guess I won't be shipping much to Canada.

That’s wild 😜 to me but I guess if people don’t ship or order a lot this would be appropriate. Hugs 🫂

Canada

No Soap for You

You're just gonna have to stink

It’s happening to everyone I know here in the US too , any package they’re receiving from outside the US is getting held , even if it’s a 20$ lipstick from europe , the postal office sends them an import duty invoice to pay

Fucking amazing. I just can't hate governments enough. Despicable.

Im in canada. I order seeds every year for the last 10 years. Never had an issue until this year. Seems like it has always been a possibility that youd have customs fees but i think many packages were pushed threw without fees. Im guessing they are not letting anything sneak through now...

Only second time shipping to Canada. Didn't have this issue last time. At least that I'm aware of. Pure insanity.

That’s CRAZY!

Better just make them apart of the U.S.

Makes my blood boil. 🤬🤬

For sure! Really hurts the pleb economy when that stuff happens. Only happen to the one order so far?

Yeah, as far as I know. I can't even explain how pissed I am. 🤬 This is ridiculous. Completely screws small businesses.

Absolutely does. 🤔 Hopefully doesn’t stick around to long. Going to have to try to get together with the community and see if there is any possible workaround. To my knowledge, there is not a workaround, but my knowledge on these things are pretty slim

As a EU pleb I’m used to these stupid high random import tax bills whenever I buy something from Canada.

I'm so hot right. It's just freaking soap for crying out loud. 🤬🤬

There is no international free market, we need one!

Beware shipping to the EU then. Once customs has it, they'll charge stamp taxes and other fees based on the item, and it's cost, where it's coming from, etc. It also varies by country.

Going to have to stick with just USA. Not giving me a choice. Pure insanity. 🤬

Lol this isn't new for Canadian shipping from US. They also require customs forms. Last time I got a quote to ship jerky to Canada was two years ago, and it was $35 then, so $40 doesn't seem like a huge jump.

Pirate ship didn't say anything about this when I was printing out label. Wish they would have. It's got me fuming. 🤬 Fucking governments! Garbage trash pieces of shit.!

Sounds like Pirate Ship isn't very good for you this week. You have to click on the Extra Services and fill in the customs form too. Also, their chat service in the corner is pretty fast.

I did fill out the customs form, but never a mention anywhere about import fees.

And thanks, good to know. 🙏

Shipping anything to Canada is more than $28 usd from my experience

Mark as a gift. Customs is random

Can't just mark as gift on customs forms. Thanks though 🙏🫂

I was talking to an old client the other day. His business is import / export automation so folks don't have to pay all that money for a customs broker.

He was saying this tariff business is monkey wrenching an already dysfunctional process.

It's a disaster under the hood, believe me.

Yeah, I believe it. The thing that got me so hot was that I wasn't made aware that this would happen. The shipper, UPS, should have forewarned me before already expensive shipping cost were collected. I don't appreciate when my customers get taken advantage of. Makes my business look bad, and it's not fair to them.

Yeah I get it.

This system is so broken that it can't even give you that information until it hits the border.

Nobody can do business with a supply chain like that.

Exactly, especially for a small business. I don't have the resources to have someone calculate all the logistics.
