there are very good programmers. and there are very good programmers that use AI to increase their productivity by multiple x.

The ones who leverage AI

There are very good programmers.

And then there are very good programmers who use AI to multiply their output.

Who wins?

Easy...the ones who code with Iron Man suits on. 💻⚡️

I leverage ai but I don't consider it vibe coding. vibe coding is letting the ai do most of the work. when I do that I am less productive.

Same. It's tempting to let the AI do full small tasks. But then I'm longer stuck just fixing what it did wrong than just doing it myself.

yes and getting into flow state is most important to me, I can't get into flow state vibe coding

Probably because you're operating as an engineer rather than a novice.

we’re winning

The better ones, which are not the ones having barely-capable AI do much for them right now

The ones working on more valuable problems no matter how they reach the solution

What safeguards do you use to catch security vulnerabilities inherent in llms?

Are programmers equal? What is a programmer? AI is a tool. If you don’t use a tool that matches the task at hand you are not being efficient or precise. Now there are different tasks and different tools. And tools have positives and negatives. I have no problem acknowledging positives, but expect people to acknowledge the negatives

To prototype and to see if ideas make sense then yeah vibe coding is awesome, but fortunately the currently available tools and llms generate a lot of noise after multiple iterations (e.g unused code, inconsistent style, etc..) and that makes it more harder to maintain and for others to contribute

This is kind of a riddle. Whoever gets the better solution with better code in better time is the better programmer. Does it matter if ai was used or not?
