Onboarded some new people to #nostr today…

First question I got: who should I follow.

What’s your approaching to get newbies started the best way? #asknostr

That is indeed a pain point onboarding people who don’t have friends on #nostr 😅

Takes some effort to curate your personal feed to what you want to see. #hashtags through interests has helped me discover people with stuff in common 🤙✨

I tell them to find someone they already know, then look at who they follow and start there. For people that speak Spanish, I've been told #hispano helps

Anyone in the beginning

Me cause I’m the best

Have an awesome day, Max

Follow the people who zap the notes you like.

Anyone you discover and like

For me the best way to start is by showing your documentary ✌️

THIS IS NOT AN EASY TASK & A GREAT QUESTION. MANY GET BORED RIGHT AWAY AND DONT COME BACK. BUT THIS IS OKAY. AT LEAST THEY KNOW IT EXISTS

WHY ARE WE SHOUTING

Read notes and respond to them. If you get a response to your response then that would be someone to follow. Search for topics you enjoy. I haven't found much in regard to #pickleball yet.

The right answer is, follow as many as you can and then you can curate your feed.

Find one reputable person and follow who they follow and who follows them.

Generally I agree, and would just give him your account to follow and just listen to the person what he want to know and give him one or two reputable persons to follow on the topic

It depend on the topic of interests.

I'd say it's obvious if they're a bitcoiner.

If they're not, maybe following tags for the topics they're interested in will get them started.

If they don't find their interests, they have the opportunity to be the first to do so here and even monetise it.

Value for value.

And as others have pointed out, finding people with similar interests and following who they follow works as well.

It's an opportunity for content creators to be the first ones covering their interest of choice on a totally new network. 💯

I think they'll have to overcome the fear of being a 'loner' who shouts into the void, which will be the case for a while.

Not a single person I know in real life is here and it's just me posting into the void. Just recently started interacting more with people. Liking it so far!

lume has a hashtag area of interest

What I feel is interesting is whether hyper-local legacy social media can migrate to Nostr. How to make that happen?
