I always felt that coldcard had somewhat of a cult following. it just seems like an overpriced HW to me.

Was the license of the libraries that were copied, on an open source license? Just confused how that can happen without it being a violation of the license?

Yeah FOSS libraries;

That's why it was so epically dumb to move away from an ecosystem that helped you get to where you are.

So it was forked but the copies licenses are still under an open source license? I don’t know what the original license was. BSD/GPL or something?

Im not sure if you're referring to coldcard's current situation or the field

#2 from your image. 2 guys copy the FOSS licensed libraries? Based on that description they forked? the libraries without keeping the same open source license which I would think could end in a lawsuit. But that is what I am trying to understand if it was something else that they did. I think I’ve seen you post about it before. Is there a link to a full story. I guess if it’s this I’m not sure why there isn’t a lawsuit.

What happens is people piggy back on FOSS code;

Release their product(s);

Rewrite the libraries at their leisure;

Then change the license.
