I've always been intrigued by the morphological relationship between the Kanji 意 and "episteme". The three components of the kani 意 are Standing, on light, over the heart. Episteme is knowledge but means more like "taking a stand" on the knowledge. Very cool.

Looked it up. Google says it means mind, meaning, intention, idea, thought, taste, desire, care, and liking.
Particularly the first handful of meanings all resonate with the concept of “understanding”.
Ya for me the most important thing is the three components that lumped together make the kanji 意: 立、日、and 心。
