Topology: the study of connection patterns.

The donut is topologically equivalent to the mug.

1, 2, 3, 5, & 7 are all topologically equivalent to one another as symbols. Those numerals are all topologically equivalent to the capital letters U, I, L, M, N, V, C, Z, J, G, S, and W.

Actually the G displayed different when I typed it from how it looked on the keyboard so, depending on how the font gets rendered, some of those may be off. In this case the little “leg” on the right side of the G changes the topology enough to make this version of G not topologically equivalent to the others.

I've always been intrigued by the morphological relationship between the Kanji 意 and "episteme". The three components of the kani 意 are Standing, on light, over the heart. Episteme is knowledge but means more like "taking a stand" on the knowledge. Very cool.

Looked it up. Google says it means mind, meaning, intention, idea, thought, taste, desire, care, and liking.

Particularly the first handful of meanings all resonate with the concept of “understanding”.

Ya for me the most important thing is the three components that lumped together make the kanji 意: 立、日、and 心。
