Minds is now interoperable with every app that uses the ActivityPub decentralized social media protocol. There are many. People refer to this network of apps as the Fediverse.
It means that you can reach many new people and they can reach you. It means you have more ownership of your graph and identity ultimately.
Nostr is also one of these parallel networks which work differently than mastodon but are federated and part of the fediverse.
I added my npub to minds, after hearing about it on Rogan, but the app didn't seem to use relays.

Nostr's relay architecture means, though, that nobody can say "find me on Nostr at xxx@xxx.x" because you need to also know the relays that the person is using. This seems an Achilles heel for this network, and makes it entirely unsuitable as an alternative to Masto/Twitter/BlueSky etc.
Not entirely true, you can tell someone to find you at your nip07 address which points to your preferred relay and pubkey and is controlled by you at your domain..
I’m not sure what gave you that impression but it’s not true. The user name rabble@fivvy.com is one my nostr names and it has the relays I’m using.
If you just have the npub for a user then yes it’s an issue which is why folks should be sharing either the nip-05 username@domain or full nprofile which embeds relay information so clients know where to look things up.
NIP-07 appears to be a JavaScript object for a browser.

So, a NIP-05 address - james@crid.land - doesn't appear to have any relay information. It's just a mapping from my humanly-readable name to my NPUB, according to the spec. So, people still can't follow me unless they use the same relays as I do.
I can't tell you my nprofile or how to get it, but it seems that it's an impenetrable hex key which seems totally unsuited to giving someone on a printed business card. But that *does* have relay information.
Ah, there's now an optional relays attribute for a NIP-05. That was the bit I was missing - I'm relatively sure when I set this up, that wasn't a thing.
lol minds is using nostr protocol and users on nostr cant even write on their relay, and minds chose to federate with fedi, how fucked up is that 🤯
