I’m going to start doing a quarterly fast outside of my intermittent fasting.

The first will be a (roughly) 40 hour fast, starting tonight at 8PM EST and ending Friday at 12PM.

I invite people who are interested to join.

To do this, you will:

1. Be in good health generally with no underlying illnesses that might be negatively affected by a fast.

2. Have been eating low-carb for a while so your body is used to burning fat for energy.

3. Have some experience with intermittent fasting at least for short periods (18, 8, etc…).

4. Avoid if you are Type One Diabetic, pregnant, or taking meds with meals.

What’s the benefit over a quarterly ~ 2 day fast in addition to regular intermittent fasting?

I know it’s good to cycle off fasting occasionally (few times a year), then pick it back up again for regularity, but never entertained going 40 hrs once I a while.

Here’s a good breakdown of the time differences. The 36 - 72 hour time frame is up for debate between “experts” on how much additional benefit you get. I’m a first timer. No real reason why I picked 40 hours vs 36 or 48.

My schedule is

3 days every month.

Then 2 days on 3 days off.

If there is no party. Then I usually get defeated by🍺
