I fear Ozempic will be the next Oxycodon, coming for Europe too this time...

Why so? Any specifics
It comes out of nowhere hailed as the holy grail to solve a big issue with no personal effort required.
The side-effects are deeply worrying but seem to be brushed off so easily by media because people "deserve this drug".
I'm baffled by the speed at which people (that i know personally) suddenly get it prescribed. That's not a natural pace of development.
Yeah I was chatting with a cousin whos a doctor and considering it.
Sounds like itβs very popular amongst MDs but I donβt like anything like that basically comes with a forever subscription!
Just out of sheer heuristics you'd expect there is a price to pay, but from the stuff i have seen the risks/consequences atleast appear to be surprisingly/unexpectedly minimal, including the ability to get off the drug at some point without lasting effect. Now i would not be surprised/i'd expect for some 'oops' moment to occur eventually, but π€·ββοΈ. Not advocating for the crap here, but given what is known currently combined with how unhealthy being a fat ass is, i understand the hype, even outside of some greedy agenda pushing said hype.
What indications of risk/consequences are you aware of?
I think the consequences will show over the long term. I don't think people get unhealthy because they're overweight. I think they get overweight because they're unhealthy.
Meaning, you can take away the symptom. But you're not fixing the root cause (i think we agree on that).
What the exact outcomes will be I can't tell... But when you take a shitty diet that still contains too few nutrients, and then give people something so that they eat less of it, but still the same crap food. You end up with someone more malnourished than they already were, further amplifying the shortage of necessary nutrients.
I'm sure they'll sell another pill for issues arising from that cycle.
To the last part of your question, I see rumors people struggle with severe gut issues (indigestion) and depressive/suicidal ideation within months after taking it. It's hard to quantify this stuff as truthful sources of this kind of data are scarce unfortunately.
It's amazing how many celebrities have suddenly lost weight.. Some even look malnourished!
Joining Vioxx, MRNA and a bucket of other bad decisions by Big Pharma.
i think better comparable to antibiotics in terms of impact and risk to society
