You need a balance of “you’re doing well I’m proud of you” and “toughen the fuck up.” I think this is deeply ingrained in humans. Mother provided unconditional love while father set the standards and expectations for growth.

Don’t watch the live action remake of cowboy bebop whatever you do. It’s about space bounty hunters. But it’s not really scifi if that makes sense. Trigun is harder to explain. Just watch it and don’t judge till you get 3-4 episodes in. It gets deep
