Just to counter his point: most of the astounding artistic excellence produced before the « contemporary » era of bullshit, was made on commission, that’s how artists made a living. Maybe it’s also about skill, talent? Maybe a great artist never settles for mediocrity, indifferent if they create for themselves or for someone else’s guidelines?
