AFAIK these are a Trinitario hybrid. They start out this wicked deep purple/maroon color that eventually shifts towards orange or brownish-red as they ripen. Deep purple seed color. They are well liked in this area due to disease resistance and strong cacao flavor.

They can sometimes get even bigger than this! Being a hybrid type this variety usually averages around 15-25cm but occasionally can produce pods up to 30cm. That’s 1+ kg in ideal conditions.
