Good morning nostr, today we plan to finalize the installation of our Starlink. We've been testing it out without running the cable thru walls, but it works great, so we're ready to run the cable for permanent use. As far as getting signal to the bnb cabin, i'm pretty sure we can mount an antenna gadget on main house and cabin to send the signal, and just put a router in the cabin. I talked to a couple of local wifi installers, and thats what they recommended. Also, i still need to make one more batch of soap for the holidays, then catch up on other stuff. Yall have a great Tuesday, enjoy your coffee, and remember that today is a gift. #coffeechain #grownostr #homesteading #starlink

Nice! Do you have much trees around the cabin? I found that could sometimes they block the signal. Especially when leaves are out?

I've been using Starlink for a couple of months now - no issues - very happy with my decision....

I’m thinking of getting this just to take it with me wherever I go. I like the idea of not using wifi anywhere and just bringing my own satellite receiver.

Good morning ☀️

Good morning ☕️

Good morning! I was tempted by starlink but was unable to get it in my area. Luckily T-Mobile offered their Internet for half the price. May not be as fast but it beats 6M DSL where we live.

Care to share your soap recipe? I'm getting low and could stand to make some more myself. Always willing to consider new recipes. Unless it's a family secret of course.

Have a blessed day and careful with that lye. ☕

My go-to recipe: 40% coconut oil, 60% olive oil, 30 oz liquid (split between goats milk and water). Also experimentin with tallow lately.

As far as internet, we currently have tmibile also, but lately has become unreliable. Plus i like that starlink will work when power is out, as long as you have a generator, so a good prep.

I typically use tallow in my soap. Don't have my notebook close and can't remember the exact recipe but I'm pretty sure it included coconut and either olive or avocado oil. Always depends what I have on hand. Do you add any essential oils for aroma? I initially started making my own to get away from perfumes that seemed to be irritating but have found I can add some essential oil without causing any issues.

That's a good point on the power outage. Weird I had not considered that. If I'm not mistaken, starlink should be more portable as well?

Yes, i like adding essential oils, plus i sell soap in my bnb, and folks love the smell. I try to use only good quality oils.

Oh, and starlink offers a travel version for rv's, but the monthly fee is higher. We got the Residential kit, and so far so good. We're having more frequent power outages lately, and no internet sucks, especially if its multiple days. I heard Elon sent a bunch of kits to NC after the storms.

GM! 💜
