I want to have a private nostr relay, where do I go?

I want to migrate data from existing relays to that new relay. How do I do that? Are there already ready solutions, so I don't need to code it myself?

On top of my private relay, I want to have a website / UI, so I can easily search through my messages. Like browsing some blog posts.

It is a long post, but all those are related to me.

Thank you in advance for suggestions.

Interesting questions and I'll follow your post to see about any replies.

As for the website, I just finished building my blog website with npub.pro (https://www.bennubreath.me) and it works surprisingly well. This way I can integrate selected Nostr posts permanently on my website and also search through them anytime I need them again. It requires personal tags to create a proper structure. Have a look!

Thank you for sharing! And congratulations with your website πŸŽ‰

Yes, that is something what I was looking for when I said website / UI

By tags you mean, adding a hashtag for example when posting something on nostr?

Yes, hashtags is what I mean for the website structure.

Any other way to filter without out notes without hashtags?

Not that I'm aware of. The lack of a reliable search function is a strong negative for Nostr I think.

Setting up a relay is quite easy. With https://github.com/fiatjaf/khatru it takes about 3-5 commands to get it running.

A guide to set-up a relay https://andreneves.xyz/p/set-up-a-nostr-relay-server-in-under

To migrate data i would recommend using nak where in one command you can replay the events to your new/custom relay. You can for example just replay your own events, or only by the people you follow. Example command to replay to another relay in NAK docs -> https://andreneves.xyz/p/set-up-a-nostr-relay-server-in-under

Thank you for sharing this!

Do you know though if when replaying events does orginal timestamp remain or new one is created?

I want to know the dates when certain notes were created originally.

Original date. The timestamp is signed into the event.

Start with reading some nips and playing with NAK. You will learn a lot

Just setup a start9 and do it that way, there is many benefits from that over using a hosting provider and its so easy even a boomer could do it.

Thank you. Would you recommend cloud9 over an old laptop?

You mean start9? And yeah, you could if it's actually just old and not dead. If the storage is small you won't have as many benefits, but still usable. Hardwire to your router ideally.

Here’s a video I made about how to run a haven relay https://youtu.be/kmH_cJUqGyw
