Anyone know where I can get some decently priced s9's other than kaboomracks? Was chatting with them trying to buy then they suddenly ghosted me when I asked how to pay them... wtf?!

Might have been this: https://swappa.com/buy/phones
Curious…what’s a good price for an S9?
The listing I was looking at was selling at 1 for 125. I've seen them upwards like 200ish recently?
I got mine for like $130.
Nice, I’ve not tried mining yet. I’m curious but not sure about trying it or not. 🤙🏻⚡️
Yeah it'll be my first time as well. Figured a couple hundred bucks is a good way to dip my toes. I did the math though, if I'm using grid power, at my rates, I need like a 140k+ price on bitcoin if I'm ever gonna be profitable with this thing hahaha
But I'm taking it as a learning experience. I want to explore what I can do with waste heat. I'd like to take one apart as well and understand the hardware a bit more.
Also trying to use it as an excuse to convince my wife to get solar panels for the house :)
I needed a space heater in an office without any direct heat, so an S9 fit the bill perfectly.
How do you deal with the sound? I've got a space heater in my office pulling 1500W the s9 can replace perfectly if not for the noise....
I don’t mind it. I think it sounds a lot louder when it’s recorded and you hear it online.
If I underclock it a little bit it’s even better.
Also, can mod it out with quieter fans, but I also kinda like hearing the burrrrrrrr, and it’s in an isolated basement office.
Is it just the fans that cause the noise? I've got a bunch of extra BeQuiet and Noctua case fans laying around that are probably loads quieter.
I'm a complete mining noob - how do you go about underclocking the machine?
I wonder how effective would it be if I built a box and line the inside with sound dampening foam or dynamite. How much would that reduce the noise I wonder... I'd also have to vent it out of course... just thinking out loud.
Honestly the power supply fan is more annoying (higher, winier pitch) than the actual ASIC fans themselves.
Under or over clocking is done in the firmware OS — I’m running Braiins.
I think for sound dampening Owens Corning 703 fiberglass acoustic insulation works wonders. I use it for audio baffles in a stereo setup and it’s the real deal. That egg crate foam can’t touch this stuff.
If you stay on them, they’ll eventually get back to you. They take onchain payments which is pretty seamless.
If you can find a meet up near you, sometimes you can get good deals on miners as well.
Lol unfortunately I started the meetup near me. We have a few miners in the group but I don't think anyone has any for sale :(
Thanks - I'll keep bothering them. It's been like 5 days since their last msg
Yeah it took me like 2 weeks and I would 100% recommend having Telegram notifications on, because they’ll get back to you at completely random times.
Their sales process/customer service is kinda meh for small orders, but I sort of get it, they’re a small team and I’m not putting in an enterprise order for a palate delivery for 50 immersion miners.
They’re making a razor slim margin on ad hoc S9 orders.
Yeah that makes sense. Totally get it. Just thought it was weird they ghosted me just as I was trying to pay them lol
I'm not vouching for them or promoting them and I've never used them. Maybe a site for price reference.
