I don’t understand much about US laws and constitution but I’m still wondering why people think that 2nd amendment protects citizens from tyrannical government?

Let’s think for a bit:

- if a tyrannical government takes control, and assuming they control the army.. your guns at home are just like a water gun compared to the army’s fire power

- if a tyrannical government comes, constitution becomes useless and they can ban normal people to buy ammo and new guns

So unless most homes in the US has war level weapons, tanks, jets, and and enough ammunition.. then you will still have problems defending from a tyrannical government.

I hope that’ll never happen obviously but I’m still curious to understand why constitution is even relevant in the event a tyrant takes control

It’s somewhat delusional.

Perhaps, but it beats the alternative. The entirety of the Commonwealth is the counter-example.

What might have made sense in the 18th century wouldn’t hold up today against the power of the MIC.

Defeatist, no? Are you saying you'd rather Americans be unarmed and follows in the footsteps of the Commonwealth countries?

What I’m saying is that I don’t think it moves the needle very much. I don’t see any scenario in which the US military is outmatched in firepower and I find it ridiculous to claim otherwise.

I'd suggest that by comparison to the EU, the Commonwealth, et al, we're faring much better, if still disappointingly. It's not binary.

I don’t claim to have the answers but the Constitution is just words on paper and the real world is very different.

Indeed. The words require backing. In lieu of arms, all we have left are more words.

And also, love ya man. 🫂

Maybe nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl can comment as I took it from his comment on another network .. maybe there is some logic that I’m missing

Deranged Trump rednecks and their bang-bang pea shooters are laughable slobs. Those toys only get themselves and lots of school children killed. If it comes to it, I’ll bet on the side with the hellfire missiles and F-18s.

and which side do you think the guys flying F-18s are on? 😁

The side that owns the nation’s property.

If the US gov gets aggressively tyrannical and attacks it owns citizens, it will up to the inner fortitude & desire for freedom of the citizens to fight back. Don’t underestimate the gorilla and grassroots capability to subvert a military incursion on citizens. The American revolution and Afghanistan are perfect examples of when big traditional militia lost against much lesser armed and staffed opponents.

Have you ever been under a tyrannical government that takes control of the army?

We did

And militias were just wiped out

What was the ratio of firearms per citizen? Was the country as vast and spread out the US?

This is about tens of millions of people with arms, not a depot of militia hot spots to hit with air fire or missiles.

Obviously the constitution is not relevant. Whomever has the guns is highly relevant.

Alles passiert hier im geltenden Recht. Dazu muss man wissen, dass Personen, Bürger, Staat Fiktion ist. Da machen sie was sie wollen. Der Mensch und das Naturgegebene ist Grundgesetzlich geschützt
