“Living on Bitcoin” question:

Most businesses near me, including some I frequent, don’t accept Bitcoin (although not for lack of trying).

Is there a non-custodial/KYC-free app where you can load a fiat payment method by paying a Lightning invoice?

It looks like BitRefill sells digital visa debit cards, but those can’t be used in-person or added to Apple Pay.

Does anywhere sell physical gift cards for sats? The more I learn about financial surveillance, the more I realize that every purchase, every coffee you buy, is tracked to fine-tune your advertising profile (and that’s the best-case scenario).

I guess using cash or buying a prepaid card with any method would achieve the desired privacy here...

But is there a way to do this on Bitcoin?

Esats and Ecash are probably going to be the best option soon. It's effectively a way to send private digital fiat and sats in and out of a custodial lightning node. But might be a little bit before this is up and running.

In fact running a mint for your local businesses to be able to transact with digital money will kind of be how open banking worked in the 1800's and would be a great business to run for your local community.

Do they want a POS that accepts bitcoin but auto converts to fiat? Or accepts fiat and converts to bitcoin?

Is brilliant because as a POS you can elect how much of the payment you want in fiat and how much to your btc wallet. They are also setup to utilize NFC in person payments for bolt card users.

Ohhh no it’s me as the customer who’s looking for a solution to use at my coffeeshot (lol ie for businesses who have said “thanks but no thanks” when I ask about bitcoin)

I've testes visa card from The Bitcoin Company. Worked, even here in Australia!! Although not suitable due to USD to AUD conversation charges..

Added to Samsung pay without an issue..

I guess Apple Pay is still kyc-lite Joe that I think about it - I believe it masks your identity from the merchant and their POS data vacuum but Apple still collects it all.

Still, better in a way - but still not good… gotta find physical GCs I guess if really committing
