So happy to have another one!

NIP-26δ½Ώγ£γ¦γΏγγβοΈ
NIP-26 is a standard for signing events on behalf of a user. It allows a second set of keys to create events that compatible-clients will render as belong to the delegator user.

weβve been working on deeper Nostr support for some new voice/video/chat stuff at #[3]β. Seems like this would greatly simplify what we want to do. we could issue nostr events on behalf of users from our server-side using these delegation tokens. am I missing any gotchas besides some clients not supporting them yet?
EXACTLY!
NIP-26, or something like it, is badly needed for non-trivial uses of nostr.
Glad to see that you guys want it, Lyle. You motivated me to push harder on it again.
And no, the main gotchas as NIP-26 stands right now, is that the control the user grants are pretty much all-or-nothing; if a user grants you a delegation token and you misbehave there is no recourse.
I'll write more about this tomorrow.

very exciting! let me know how I can help you in this effort!

progress π’:
what extensions support NIP-26?
None.
Get Alby could once they merge my PR.
I also wrote support for #[3]'s nos2x but never sent the PR. I might do it in the next couple of days.

Oh. I currently use nos2x. I'd run your PR version π
I think NIP-26 is a bad idea that will eventually destroy Nostr and that you NIP-26 enthusiasts are not thinking correctly and you should stop a little. Should I still merge your PR?
Can you elaborate why NIP-26 is bad? Alternatives?
I will try this out later tonight. Thank you! π€
nostore (iOS) doesn't work with nip26.lol. I turned on the experimental feature and nada π€·ββοΈ
no public extension supports it; you would need to build from source the one that I made on the getalby PR to try it
Wow, nip-26 is the path to a secure Nostr experience I was hoping for. Being able to cold store a main private key is a game changing upgrade.
So many possibilities!
