Lunch time! This is shredded brisket that I cooked overnight in the slow cooker. I like my brisket shredded like this because it makes it very versatile. We can make brisket tacos, I can mix it in scrambled eggs, which is one of my favorite foods, or on sandwiches. Its all good. This beef is from the half cow we picked up yesterday, and we couldnt fit it in our stuffed freezers, so I just cooked it, and we'll be able to eat from it for several days. #localbeef #grownostr #foodstr #countrylife

Yum. How much brisket do you get from half a cow?

Our order came with two large ones.

How many pounds? I'm curious.

Our half was about 250 lbs of meat, plus I requested all the fat so I can make beef tallow, the bones for broth, and the organs for the dogs. Ended being $6.40/pound, which is a good price for local, well raised beef. The steaks are unbelievably good.

That's a lot of meat!

Sure is! If my husband harvests a deer this fall, we'll probably give most of it to a neighbor lady who lives alone and cant get out too much. She asks us every year if we have extra venison.
