AMD graphics drivers have become nightmare. My game suggested upgrading to 23.9.3, so I did, and after rebooting steam doesn't start at all and I'm stuck at a spinning blue disk. After some time other windows things don't work like I can't open the windows menu, and CTRL+ALT+DEL does nothing, I can't restart the PC I have to hard power off.

So after a couple reboots with no improvement I went to device drivers and removed both display drivers and rebooted. Then I got the old 23.7.x driver and installed it. It then gave me the option to install 23.9.3 (yes, not 23.7.x that I downloaded) or some older 23.2.x. WTF? You can't even choose to install the driver you want. They control the horizontal. They control the vertical.

I went to windows recovery and there are no recovery points at all. I don't know why.

They were right to call it adrenaline. I'm pretty worked up.

Me too on both counts. Btw, I’m writing a get started guide on Gossip and noticed Gatekeeper halts the Gossip build for Mac. You open to a PR to fix that if I can get it working for the GH CI pipeline?

So I uninstalled again, rebooted, and went into device drivers, and windows had slotted in 23.8.1 WHQL. In almost zero time. Steam worked. The game suggested upgrading from 23.8.1 to 23.9.3, which I of course didn't do.

Have you ever wondered why windows can install the graphics driver in fractions of a second, but AMD takes 5-10 minutes to do it with their adrenaline thing? Because I sure the fuck wonder that. Is it just doing nothing and advertising at you?

Nvidia Drivers are heavy too, but at the end of the day Nvidia has the budgets to get them to work while AMD does not.

and on Game Developer side - why would they bother optimizing for AMD when everybody uses Nvidia ?

that said, i have RTX 4080 and it isn't without issues as well.

AMD is trash, that's why Elon Musk put it in the Tesla.

Elon always uses the worst parts.

He actually bragged about using non-automotive grade display panels in Model S ... which all ended up failing.
