This is what I do with my water but sometimes I get dehydrated because the salty water still tastes good even though itβs too much lol

I had to learn to pay attention to how water tastes too. Sometimes plain water is amazing and that tells me I need more of it. Still not great at this. I often find myself chugging my electrolyte drink or a full liter of water to catch up.
Sports helped build the habit. Especially playing soccer when I was young. You don't get breaks during soccer so you have to pay attention and show up hydrated. BJJ too, an hour pouring sweat with no drink break. People want revenge at BJJ, show up off your game and you will be sure to suffer.
As a kid, the only water I had access to during sports at the park was that sketchy water fountain that probably never had its filter changed. Iβd play for hours then go chug tons of water. That seems to be more consistent with what our ancestors did: spend hours hunting until they either caught something to eat or found a water source to replenish themselves.
Lots of our ancestors died of various clogged lungs diseases from sitting in front of a fire so often. The ancestral way isn't always the best way.
I don't know in this case, just saying it isn't a foolproof argument for ideal health.
Interesting I didn't know about the fire being problematic for us
