Muun keeping the fee for failed LN invoices now… this seems new?
Don’t love it.

I’m trying to figure out how I zapped someone 3000 sats and got charged an 8000 sats fee through Muun. WTF.
I know they have some weird fee structures but seems like it’s gotten way worse lately
Yikes. Muun works as a Lightning wallet but it's not a true Lightning wallet. These fees will happen sometimes as they swap from on-chain to Lightning and vice versa. Look into switching to Phoenix or Mutiny.
So I’m using Phoenix for most transactions but had been using Muun for certain things (think certain Lightning network payment bonds which usually fail and return to the wallet…)
Up until the past week, those failed payments would return in full. Now they keep the fee 😑
Done with Muun, I think, except for when their submarine swaps are cheaper than Phoenix’s swaps go on-chain
It’s because Muun isn’t a real lightning wallet. Their trade off where you can move your balance on-chain or via Lnd network is that every transaction basically initiates an on-chain transaction. When you send to a lightning address they use their lightning node. You’re essentially paying the on-chain fees, that’s why it’s so high.
