Me: Why do you trust health officials at the FDA/CDC?
Them: If the public found out about any wrongdoing, then the officials would be removed or held liable because they’re public institutions.
Me: *Presents evidence or wrongdoing*
Them: No that doesn’t count it’s not government approved science.

Over the past few years I've changed my broader mindset of "someones probably watching them" to nah, they probably aren't I should probably keep an eye out on them.
The modern assumption that: someone else will do it, creates this way of thinking imo. Then it just circles back to personal responsibility. If the culture has lost the feeling of responsibility for protecting their community because "the police will do that" and so on.
