Zaps destroy lightning payment privacy, now the wallets know exactly who is paying

Default zaps should be private or anonymous.
Yeah, I think Zeus said something about not adopting the nip yet because of privacy or something like that #[2]
We can't stop people from using zaps with Zeus but we're trying to inform people of the privacy issues and haven't turned the reporting element on for our profile
4 zapathons later... a bit too late
😂🤙⚡
Good point though!
Definitely a zap for thought...
🤔
This is why anon/private Zaps *have* to be the default in Nostr clients.
Until then we're undermining all of the privacy provided by Lightning for practically no reason. While amounts need to be displayed in Nostr clients for effective social usage, no info on payee or comment should be a core part of things unless a user opts-in to revealing that info.
We have a chance to make privacy the default.

I don’t get the point of private zaps. The only thing that makes them valuable is that they are from people you know to people you know. Otherwise you should probably assume they’re fake.
Public tipping (a normie term for zapping)

not with private zaps! I should write that up…
It is to be assumed
So Nostr is destroying Lightning?
Isn’t that the whole point? I think the ideal is to make most payment privately, but sometimes, make public payments. Zaps are the ideal public payment. Just don’t buy your coffee with a zap.
I will reward you 1BTC if you can trace me back to my real identity and my IP/location after I will send you a 100 sats zap.
Even anon zaps?
Yes 😔
fix?
