This is why anon/private Zaps *have* to be the default in Nostr clients.
Until then we're undermining all of the privacy provided by Lightning for practically no reason. While amounts need to be displayed in Nostr clients for effective social usage, no info on payee or comment should be a core part of things unless a user opts-in to revealing that info.
We have a chance to make privacy the default.

For better or worse social media is often social status driven. If someone is zapping chances are they want others to see them doing it

I don’t get the point of private zaps. The only thing that makes them valuable is that they are from people you know to people you know. Otherwise you should probably assume they’re fake.

No. The whole concept of zaps is that they are like comments or likes, but with value.
Anon zaps are the exception.
I want sovereigns to know i find value in their work/thoughts. If ever had a reason for annon, Nostr Zaps are not my starting line.
Total amounts in zaps can still be public if the recipient wants to, but the zap sender should be private unless they make themselves public
No. The purpose of the zap is to interact. Obfuscation of the sender by default breaks the whole concept.
Anon zaps as option is perfect.
But that’s my opinion. Go build a client that has it as a default.
