I went down this rabbit hole last year and now all-in Bang & Olufsen
Had mine for 8 years now and they’re still great quality sound.
But what the fuck have they done with the software? I had to re-setup in my new place recently and instead of just connecting to a new wifi network I had 2 apps and had to factory reset the whole thing to get it working again.
Don’t know how they screwed up the user experience that bad.
Sound quality is fantastic. The app is worse than most Nostr apps in beta that I’ve tried. It’s a travesty. I bet someone has hacked them though, I need to look into that. The worst part is that the old app, which wasn’t fantastic by any means, worked just fine.
I saw on Xitter they wrote a mea culpa that they did screw up the new app, but now I’ve just got 2 unusuable apps so that doesn’t really help their customers
I swear every time I verbally threaten to throw them in the trash, they connect to wifi…
The software is infuriating, they actively remove features and make it worse
Got some in 2018 and was happy with the simplicity until a few years ago when I had to constantly update the app to get them to work and they never worked well again. They’re gathering dust now
I still use mine because of the sunk cost. But I’m getting close to dumping them or figuring out how to hack them. Great hardware, horrific software.
Totally agree, i had an old pair of dumb speakers that I hooked up to an old iPod and I’m happy again. The annoyance out weighed the sunk cost for me.
