Thank god for guns. If it wasn't for guns, they wouldn't have been able to shoot the gunman.

There was enough time for SS to do the right thing, for local police to do the right AND for these citizens to do the right thing. If you’re not carrying, throw rocks at the guy, coordinate a group to tackle him…

The number of people standing around doing nothing is insane. I'm shocked none of them were armed.

This is one of those government monopoly problems I think.
Let’s say there is only private security and people understand they are responsible for their own security- and the peace in their own town- then yes some of those folks might have been armed and neutralized the assassin.
But how it is now, the federal secret service demands complete monopoly on security- no one can show up to that event armed. People do not expect to be in the position to protect or ensure peace because of the government monopoly.
Yet they fail and allow things like this to happen.
Yeah that tracks. After I posted I realized I wouldn't be carrying if I went to a rally either.
Might still have one in my car tho. In any case that went on way too long before the shots were fired. Unbelievable to watch.
