Beautiful, fertile females "have" much power, in most societies, even in societies where they technically "wield" none.

I think it is dishonest to downplay this effect, but also pointless to bemoan it or to try to suppress it with oppressive legislation.

It's also purely aesthetic. We prefer beautiful things.

The true, the good, and the beautiful. Of these the beautiful is the most obvious but the hardest to attain.

They're all aspects of God, really. Glimpses of the divine, in our daily lives, so that we are inspired to slog on in our Pilgrim's Progress.

Indeed, also I noticed we see symmetry as an important factor for something to be beautiful.
