Show me the Bitcoin beach like effort working but for Monero (and I'll be concerned as fuck about how scaling is gonna work on an append only global database with no L2s), and I'll be a lot less dismissive of it.

FCMP isnt done yet and LN has been in serious development for like 7 years and its still in beta.
yeah *when* FCMP is live and we have the ability for payment channel networks, it's gonna be more private, cheaper, and faster to have channels opens, closes, you'd be able to experiment and try around more, so it may evolve to be better, because on btc the incentive is to do as few on-chain txs as possible, so that creates all the issues we see today, but still will take a long time to get there and will probably be very unpopular since on-chain just works

If we're using IOUs for scaling then Monero can certainly scale. As can any crypto no matter how large it is.
