Some people are gonna need some carbs. Why does that surprise people?

The only thing I can think of is that her gut biome is so out of whack that it can't handle the fat and protein load so suddenly.

Is she jumping in or reducing her carbs gradually?

Does she or her family have a history of gall bladder issues?

No issues with her gall bladder. She really wants to eat pure carnivore but each time it has happened to her, she has had to reintroduce carbs. It just keeps us both from going full carnivore for a long period of time, mostly because of convenience. Looking for advice of how we can simplify the diet to increase the duration.

OK.

Again, it's she just jumping in to it? I gradually tapered off.

How does she feel before she gets ill?

Feels good, likes the diet. Just doesn’t want to have permanent scarring from the rash. She’s pushed through it a few days and it only grows and gets darker.

That sounds like it's a gut issue, then. Investigate stuff like candida or things along that line.

Glucose is the body's preferred source of energy. Fat is the backup energy source. Why purposefully deprived the body from its primary source of energy?

Your body produces its own glucose through gluconeogenesis; adding more by eating carbohydrates DISRUPTS this natural process.

Research ketosis 👇

The "natural process" is for the body to produce glucose from the carbohydrates in the food consumed.

The glucose that is not used immediately is stored into the liver and muscles as glycogen.

When the body needs the stored glycogen, it is converted back into glucose.

Glugoneogenesis happens when the body is depleted from glucose. The liver and kidney produce glucose to supply the organs that can't operate with out it (brain, eye, kidney,...). The liver also produces ketones as a backup energy source for the muscles and other organs.

Glugoneogenesis happens when glucose in the body is too low. If glucose availability from diet and storage is sufficient, glugoneogenesis doesn't happened. It not cumulative.

Wrong: no, nobody needs carbs. They are poisonous to all humans

Correct: removing them too quickly can lead to intense oxalate-dumping, as the body detoxes. This doesn't mean they NEED carbs though, just means they need to be removed more gradually for some than others

I will politely disagree about the "nobody needs carbs" thing.

Oxalate dumping would explain the issues. I had totally forgot about that. Good call!

Where do we need the carbs for? 🤔

Some women do better, health and fertility-wise, with a very moderate amount of carbs.

This may be related to thyroid issues.
